From the Church Organist ...

The information in this section of the Church Music web site is provided to assist you in choosing music for your wedding at St. Peter and St. Paul, Tring, and making sure that all the necessary arrangements, musically speaking, are made. There is lots more information about weddings in general on the main Parish web site.

The
Music Suggestions page contains information on many popular music choices for weddings and gives you the opportunity to hear the music for most of them. These recordings are made in St. Peter and St. Paul’s church in order to give you a realistic impression of how they would sound at your wedding. The music items are provided only as suggestions, I am happy to discuss and accommodate other choices where practical. Most people find that they can finalise all their choices from this information, but if you would like to meet me to discuss your wedding music I am more than happy to do so. I normally arrange to meet to discuss wedding music on Friday evenings, please contact me to make a suitable appointment.

You may have musical friends or family members that you would like to perform at your wedding, generally during the signing of the registers. I am happy, in principle, to provide accompaniment for these if required, but they will generally need to provide the relevant organ or piano music for me (no photocopies please) as well as their own copies and they will need to be available for rehearsal with me
before the wedding day.

If you wish to use your own organist or other musicians to perform the music at your wedding instead of the me then the Organist’s fee is technically still payable to me. Please
contact me to discuss this.

It is expected and accepted that video and/or audio recordings will be taken during wedding services. But it must be clearly understood that all recordings which include any of the music before the service, music during the service, congregational hymns or music after the service have to be for personal and private use only. If you intended to use recordings in any other manner please
contact me in advance to discuss and agree this. Additional fees and conditions may apply in order to comply with copyright law.

Please contact me as soon as possible whether this be simply to give me your choices, or to have a discussion or arrange to meet for a discussion. There is no particular timescale, but please make your choices and let me confirm them before getting your orders of service printed – there is nothing worse than finding out too late that there is, for example, a problem with hymn words not matching the music etc. If you would like me to check the proof of your order of service prior to printing I am more than happy to do so. I would also appreciate it if you would send me a final copy of your order of service at least one week before your wedding please.

When we have agreed the music I will send you an email showing all the details and fees applicable which I would ask you to confirm as correct to me as soon as possible. You will also receive an invoice by email.

Kind regards,

Cliff Brown

Organist and Choirmaster
